We even did a little crafting together. Ginny was able to request me to bring a few things for her to make and she did it!
Then Ginny framed it to perfection!
Beautiful job.
Ginny and I did some fun girl stuff for a sweet young teenager. We went shopping with Ginny's girlfriend who is the mom of the teenager. I was invited to help and go shopping for the special outfit Brooke will wear at the 7th and 8th grade Junior High Dance (not a prom) but just as fancy as a prom. We had a great time shopping for Brooke while my PC stayed at home watching the Formula 1 race and reading his book keeping Morgan (the sweet doggie) company.
The night before we would be leaving, another one of Ginny's dear friend (who is also our friend too because of Ginny) wanted to have a dinner party before we left Green Valley. Ginny made a fabulous salad, Sandy, the hostess, made a Pork Loin Roast with potatoes - purple, red and golden, Lois and Bill (new friends) brought a delicious Corn Souffle and I made dessert, lemon and chocolate mint cake balls. (Yep, we were asked before we left our home to come for dinner and we were ready to participate with dessert, of course.)
On our way to El Paso, TX
It just so happens to be my birthday and we wanted to be in El Paso, TX. We left bright and early and started our journey. We went right through New Mexico!
It was so fast first the Welcome and then...
we left...
It didn't take all that long to get to Texas. We were there before we knew it! Perhaps because the speed limit posted was:
Oh but we would not do that while towing a trailer. That would be totally irresponsible besides extremely dangerous and for the biggest reason of all, we are retired and enjoying life so we take our time to stop and live!
We finally made it to the El Paso area at our speed no more than 65mph, safe, easy and earlier than we expected! Except when we arrived towing our trailer it was impossible to find a place to get off the highway and there was so much traffic with slow downs and some stopping on the freeway that we just waved to El Paso and continued on our way to somewhere!
Hey, why not?
TX is a big state and there should be somewhere else to go this time!
Drive on and don't stop until we find a place or need fuel. We needed fuel so we stopped at a Pilot station that had a Denny's restaurant attached. Time for fuel not only the truck but us too. We went to have lunch at Denny's and they found out it was my birthday. Did you know you get a free meal on your birthday? Yep, you do. Except I didn't know until after we ordered and I didn't order the special birthday dishes. The manager was so nice that they said I could have whatever I wanted and I did. I had the terrific tasting Spinach/Chicken Salad and PC had a club sandwich. It was delightful.
We took off and decided to stop at Van Horn, TX. We've never been there and bet you haven't either, LOL. Not much there except for this particular place that football people should know about. Are you ready? Can you guess the football guy's name who made it big in Van Horn, TX?
Self-Portrait
Then a fellow patron who was having their dinner at this place said they wanted to take our picture for us.
We thanked her a lot.
After our wonderful dinner it became dark really fast. Before we knew it, it would be closing time for Chuy's.
The place was getting ready to close and we were thinking -- we are not at a place; park, RV Park - what to do. Well that was easy, we asked if we could stay the night in their parking lot because it is private property. No Problem!
A nice level spot on their property with nothing around us except for Chuy's Restaurant. They had lovely Mexican music playing until closing time and even made sure they closed their lights on the side where they told us to go so it wouldn't shine on our trailer. That was so nice!
We had no idea that there were train tracks right behind the restaurant (about 30 feet behind) until the first train came by going at least 80 mph and shook the ground! Wow, that was one huge surprise but we were here and laying in bed. So we continued to listen to the music and slipped into a slumber of rocky sleep. The music stopped, the lights were off and the trains continued to come all through the night - at least 8 trains!
Finally 0500 (5:00AM) arrived and we decided to leave! We just couldn't stand another train, LOL!
Junction, TX
Beautiful place to park the RV with the river just behind us while we stay in the City Park!
Ducks just feet away from us next to the water!
Another view of our spot.
While sitting in our trailer enjoying the peace and quiet, here comes a person riding their horse across the way from us in the park!
Wow, just like at home with the people enjoying their evenings by riding their horses in the neighborhood.
These birds made their home in this particular "dead" tree that is in the middle of the park surround by the trees that are flourishing! There must be a good reason why the tree is still there!
Wild life!
More wild life from little to larger turtles.
They are sunning themselves in the middle of the river on the warm rocks.
For Sale!
We are sure it is still there for the takin' how about it.
Don't you just love the seat on top?
Okay, just think about it!
See ya on the next update.
