Thanksgiving Evening 11-24-2011
Our dear friends, John and Barbara invited us over to their home to celebrate everything that both of our families are grateful for and this particular year was extremely important for all of us! John's daughter Mary drove up here from California and helped make the Thanksgiving feast that all of us enjoyed! It was the traditional and delicious Thanksgiving dinner with hor d' oeuvres and cocktails, then Turkey with all of the trimmings!!! We brought the dessert; our special homemade Pumpkin Pie that my Prince Charming made and I only made the crust and topped it with whipped cream. Prince Charming's dessert was delicious!
It was a delightful evening to share with our wonderful friends who we all consider each other as Family.
The Day After Thanksgiving 11-25-2011
Prince Charming and I prepared a beautiful Thanksgiving Dinner with a little twist. You already know that PC made the pie for Thanksgiving yet he made a second pie as well. I made cherry pie. We, together made the dinner that we shared with my long-time girlfriend (since kindergarten now that is a long time ago and we are aging ourselves, LOL), Esther (aka Est.) and her husband Howard.
This is us all grown up now!
Then it was time for dinner. Our turkey was a new recipe and it was yummy. PC carved the turkey perfectly, we had sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots and peas, delicious stuffing from the Turkey and extra stuffing was placed into a pumpkin which was baked in the oven slowly, turkey stock was also on the table, cranberry sauce; both whole and jelly (didn't make homemade this time) including a new recipe for the turkey came with a new recipe for gravy. The gravy is a keeper! It was thickened by all of the vegetables in the bottom of the roasting pan from the turkey that we placed into the blender to puree. Having "celery root" and fennel in the roasting pan along with onions, carrots, thyme, basil, bay leaves, rosemary, garlic, cayenne pepper, wine, turkey stock prepared the day before and the stock turned out great too. The gravy was thickened all by itself. There was nothing added like flour or cornstarch. All in all, it was a wonderful tasty meal that all of us enjoyed.
We were kind of slow on the pictures because we were excited to eat!
Not pictured, oops: gravy, vegetables, turkey stuffing from the turkey.
Est and Howard came to visit us the next day so all of us could get reacquainted with each other. We had great conversations and we toured the back roads in our truck. The wind was blowing and the temperatures were extremely cold. We didn't go outside that much and when we did it was fast to get back into the truck!
Est and Howard
We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thank you all for visiting us.
