St. George Marathon - October 2, 2010

Every year on the first Saturday of October, the City of St. George sponsors a marathon for whomever would like to take the challenge of the 26.2 mile race.  The St. George Marathon is a USATA Certified qualifying for the Boston Marathon 2011.  Each year, at least since we've been living here, the St. George Marathon is getting more and more popular and growing with additional participants.  This year's event had 7200 runners which include wheel and hand cycles!

You can find out more information should you like to run a marathon at the following link:
Are you up to the Challenge for next year?

Early morning about 3:40AM, Dave is ready to take the drive down to St. George where all of the runners must assemble to be bussed up to the starting line in Central, Utah which is located on highway 18 just a few miles north of us!  But not before he can get out of our home, we must take a picture first!!!
We wished Dave to have fun and good luck!  We will be cheering him on when he runs by our home on highway 18 later this morning.  We went back to sleep while Dave went to join the runners in St. George and so thereafter at the starting line!

You see what Dave is wearing in the picture above; right?  Check out this YouTube video - I placed the link here for your convenience.  You can SEE HIM, just look for him and his number 1525!  Be sure to come back to our blog afterward or go to the video after your visit here, your choice!  Enjoy.

The race started at 6:45AM and Dave said he should be at our area around 7:30AM.  We were there waiting and cheering everyone who was running!

I was so excited cheering, yelling and having a terrific time that when Dave came running up to PC & me, I didn't have the camera out to take his pictures.  I am sorry!  Of course Dave could not stop and wait for me to take his picture so I did my best with these!

After the race was completed, Dave was able to stay down in St. George with all of the runners having a great time getting to know each other, having refreshments (food and drink) and most of all cooling off from the 26.2 mile run!
Highway 18 was closed from 6AM until 1PM for this marathon that runs past our home.  Dave did great and finished 15 minutes sooner than he anticipated he would do.  He did GREAT!

When he came home it was time for PICTURES!!!  Yep, before a shower, LOL!!!
