Meeting New Friends!

Great story to tell.  The last posting showed you how some people enjoy their RV experience by parking in a predesignated area and making it very close quarters.  You are aware our preferred style and yes, there are people in the area but we are not next to each other.  This terrific couple, Linda and Alf, were are closest neighbors.  She asked her husband to ride his ATV over to our camp and ask if we would like to go on a ride with them.  We immediately accepted.

They led us on one of their favorite rides.

We are having a fun time with them.  ATVing on new trails and seeing different things that we haven't seen.  Best of all, new friends with common interests like us.  I do believe we have always said, we have never met a person while camping that we didn't like.  Let's hope we never do.

This is the road we took up into the mountains.

And this is the road back down.

Hopefully you can see the delicate purple flower growing in the middle of the rocks.  Nothing else around but rocks and this one little flower.

You never know what is just around the corner...
Someone picked up these three different types of rocks and placed them on top of the larger rock.  It was obvious that someone wanted others to see what can be found and appreciated in this massive desert of beauty.
While Linda and I went looking for other desert treasurers, the boys were having a fun conversation.  We have no idea what they were talking about but it was so nice to hear the laughter coming from their conversations with each other.

Self-portrait of Linda and I.  We became fast friends.

All of us had a wonderful time.  So terrific, that we planned the next day for PC and I to take them on one of our favorite rides.

The next day it is our turn to lead.
We found our destination, the abandoned or not used too often corral.

Our cowboys!  Well better yet, our ATV-ing guys!

Alf, Linda and PC at the corral.

How cool is this that someone else can take our picture, us - together, not a self-portrait.
Thank you to Alf and Linda!!!
We are all having a terrific time!

It is a picture (Kodak moment) for all of us to make and take pictures!  So we did!!!

Enjoy the following pictures of our fun at the corral.
This is a great picture of the tree and Linda.

Nice view!

The guys are asking us to come back to them but we are not finished with our fun.  They have to wait, patiently and they do.
This appears to be the broken windmill and water tank for the animals that once occupied this corral.

Another view of the area.
This was the broken ramp that the animals would walk up and down when they were being transported by vehicle(s).
Both Linda and I were curious to see what was in the water tank and there was a ladder.  We each took turns climbing up to see.

We can say there was NOT MUCH of anything.

So we walked back over to our guys to continued on our adventure.
We went through washes with walls as high as 10 feet above us!  Lots of vegetation, birds and most likely reptiles, LIZARDS, that we could not see while riding.

It was time for us to get back up on the top of the narrow and high walls of the wash.  We needed to find a pathway.  We came about this area and PC went first to make sure it was safe and easy for all of us.
What you are looking at is the way we came up.  In the background on the flat soft sand, we were surrounded by walls of vegetation.  To get up it was very tricky and challenging because of the deep steep crevice that the wash made.  My PC finally made it while all of us were watching with great anticipation.  After he went up, he took his tool (a shovel) out and made this ridge for a flat spot for the rest of us to go up.
Alf went up after PC and it was a little more challenging than we all thought.  So when he made it up to the top with PC, they both worked together and placed a lot more dirt down for us girls to ride up.
This is the view at the bottom of the crevice that us three went up.

I walked down back to the bottom after I parked my ATV and took the pictures to show just how high everyone was after we made it up with our ATVs.  Too bad I had the camera on zoom for a close up.
 That is my ATV.
Linda was just so cute after we all made it up safe and sound.  She was joking around saying that it was not her favorite way of ATVing and having to go up a steep incline.  Her husband was giving her more credit to do something that he thought she could do and she wasn't real happy at that moment.  She just held her breath and went up like a champion!  After getting up, she said NEVER AGAIN!  After she saw how her beloved husband almost went sideways it scared her too much.  Me too.
I must say again, that PC and Alf did add more dirt to make it more smooth for us gals to ride up.
It was challenging still, a little scary and a lot of fun!
I wanted to do it again and have PC take a movie of me riding it up but everyone poo-pooed  the idea and said, no let's keep going.
I can't have my way all the time, I guess.
LOL!
It was exciting and we all got back to our campsite safe and sound but not with a little more unexpected excitement on the way.
No pictures because we were riding.
Here's the story.
Trail riding, always be prepared to stop at a moment's notice.  Especially when you are going up a ridge and the marked trail goes down but you can't see what is coming.  Not everyone is aware of the unspoken proper etiquette of ATV or JEEP riding on trails.  Let's just say thank goodness PC was leading on the way back and when he ALMOST reached the crest of the trail, he paused and heard engine noises.  PC immediately went to his right, off the trail, then Alf and Linda followed in suit.  I was last and saw what was happening so I stayed back and waited at the bottom of the trail.
The STUPID JEEP was an inconsiderate fast driver thinking he owned the road.  Behind him was his friends in an ATV.  They came barreling up the other side and forced PC, Alf and Linda off the road.  Like I said, I was behind and just waited for those two vehicles to pass through.  I will say the ATV people apologized with a wave of the hand and smiles to me because they knew what the JEEP did wrong.  JERKS!

Come back real soon, now; ya hear?
