Beautiful Snow!

Yesterday and last night we had one heck of a snow storm!  We were very close to a blizzard, but the wind was only blowing between 20 - 26 mph constantly and the snow was continuing to come down for more than 3 hours.  My understanding is the wind must blow more than 30 or 35mph for 3 hours straight along with snow.  Therefore, I will announce in my weather technical terms, a baby blizzard!

I think if our adorable little bear could talk, he would say he was very cold!!!!  With the wind blowing and the snow falling so much last night, the protection of our front porch was nonexistent.  Our kitchen windows which faces the north north view and north east views was covered in snow and ice so much it was difficult to see through the window.  We called our friends at 9:15PM and neither of us could see each others' homes because of the blowing down pour of snow!  We were very warm and safe in our wonderful home and enjoying the storm.  Yep, we can say we were enjoying it while I'm sure the wrath of this storm will not be welcomed to many areas that will be getting hit by this storm in the very near future.  So if you live East of us, get ready!!!  I'm sure it will get stronger as it moves east towards you.

This morning the wind is still blowing but not as hard as last night and it is not snowing at this time.  We opened our garage door to see if we needed to leave we could.  This picture is looking towards our street and you can really see the snow drift.  What is amazing
to us is we can see the cement!  This is an easy drive out for our truck if we need to leave.

Now this picture is facing the east and you can't see the cement or the rocks.  We can not get our Honda out of the garage.

So happy to have our truck!

It is rare to see our porch with snow but even more rare is to see our chairs toppled over.  We double our chairs for the weight and they have never before toppled until last night.

It is almost calm outside, well perhaps not.  The flag is standing straight out.  It looks like the western sky is clearing but that is NOT where this storm came from.  This storm is coming from the North.  Boy oh boy, it is still cold out now - about 24º with a wind chill down to 16º, the wind is only averaging about 10 to 18mph now.

No sign of the snowplow truck yet in our area.

I must say, I did not go outside to take pictures of the backyard, why you ask?  Because it is too cold on that side of the house!

Now our little bear is a bit happier (if he could talk), he isn't covered in snow.
If we continue to get snow, we will get more pictures to post.  If the wind stops blowing along with warmer temperatures, perhaps we will get pictures of the backyard.  So come back and visit before the end of 2010!
Thanks for dropping in today!
